Rex J Steele: Candidate State Representative

Rex J. Steele, son of Rex and JoAnn Steele of Preston, Idaho, is running for State Representative for district 31 seat A. Rex’s deceased Grandpa, Valdo Benson, brother to Ezra Taft Benson, bought a ranch in Mink Creek, Idaho many years ago and was asked what he was going to raise on the ranch. Expecting him to say, “ hay” or maybe
“ barley”, he instead said, “grandchildren”. Talking about himself and his nine siblings, Rex said, “We learned a lot of life’s lessons on the ranch; how to work hard, how to play hard, to appreciate the land that God has given us and how to fish.” After graduating from Preston High School in 1998, Rex joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves serving as a scout infantryman and LAV crewman attaining the rank of Sergeant. Rex served an LDS mission to Veracruz, Mexico. In 2003 Rex served in Iraq, receiving the Combat Action Award and Presidential Unit Citation. About his time in the Marine Corps Rex said: “I gained valuable leadership traits, true tested friends and an intense appreciation for my country that I believe was a fair trade for my service in the Corps.” Rex graduated from BYU-Idaho, formerly Ricks College, with a B.S. in Business Management with an emphasis in Finance. Rex worked as an independent contractor for the College Republican National Committee, traveling to various College campuses, activating and teaching young people to get involved in their communities and support elected officials who believe and fight for the Constitution. Rex believes in small government with as little government intervention as possible to get the job done. Rex would work to lower taxes across the board, while serving in the legislature. Rex would hold the government agencies responsible to eliminate waste, duplication, and inefficiencies in their organizations, thus saving the taxpayer’s money. He would implement ways to improve our K-12 education by encouraging more private schools and increasing the quality of public education by retaining top teachers and allowing the teachers more control over their classrooms. Rex would work tirelessly to insure that the second amendment as well as every single one of our other sacrosanct rights would not be infringed upon here in Idaho. Rex would appreciate your vote.
